After our time in the bush it felt a bit strange being back in a city but we had some shopping to do so took advantage of the wide range of facilities available in Adelaide combined with a walking tour of the city identifying some of the older buildings, mostly from the late C19th and early C20th.
A couple of the arcades were beautiful and reminiscent of those in London with ornate ironwork balconies and tiled floors. Many facades of buildings had been retained with modern complexes built behind. There were cafés, bars and restaurants everywhere. We replaced the uv filter damaged at Uluru and acquired a few tools to help with keeping the cameras clean and free of sand and dust. The second back cover on my iPad had cracked and was about to fall off so we invested in a replacement and hopefully sturdier cover.
Lunch was amazing value in a little sandwich shop that produced very tasty quiches and salads at the far end of the Rundle Mall and after more walking including a stroll in the Botanic Gardens we went to the Apple Store to see if the battery problems with the iPhone 3GS that Siân had kindly given me some 16 months ago could be resolved. They were but it involved me purchasing a new old stock replacement phone which I then had to spend the evening restoring. Still, I now have a 'new' phone with amazing battery life, it only loses about 25% over a day! and it cost less than going onto eBay and trying to source a pre-owned model.
We dined at home on pork loin chops with sautéed potatoes, green beans and a tasty apricot compote Lesley had knocked up from fresh fruit and some local white wine all purchased from Woolworths!
