Sadly, this is our last full day with John and Gennelle, we have had an amazing time, they have been fabulous hosts and we shall miss them! Breakfast was a relatively long, slow affair with lots of chatting, once more surrounded by the sounds of an amazing array of birds.
Lesley, Gennelle and I went to the Fish Market to buy some goodies for the 'last supper' and what a display of so many fresh fish and such a range of seafood including several kinds of crab, lobsters, bay bugs and oysters. Gennelle selected some super big prawns, salmon, a bay bug and some oysters for John as a treat.
Whilst parking we noted a large boot sale taking place in the usual car park forcing all the shoppers to park in the street which explained why it looked so busy as we approached. Such a normal Sunday morning activity occurs across the width and breadth of the UK and we were reminded briefly of home.
Returning home we managed to fill the day with just being; more chatting, photo editing, tech talk, reading the newspapers (well it is Sunday) and Gennelle actually sat for some time relaxing after a tasty lunch on the patio overlooking that great view of the 'bush' which I am going to miss.
During the late afternoon John, Lesley and I took a short walk through the estate past grazing kangaroos, a large flock of Ibis, a heron or two and a number of other birds, past the nearby river with its smart motor boats and yachts throughout the local park with its dog walking and swimming area and back eventually to the house. It really is a well designed estate with lots of trees, bushes and open spaces and the design of the mostly single story homes is well considered and colour schemes harmonise with their surroundings.
Dinner was amazing! Gennelle had cooked to perfection, the fish and seafood purchased earlier in the day and prepared a new salad that complemented the meal beautifully. The wine purchased at Tamborine Mountain was a grand accompaniment and the dessert of a hazelnut cheesecake was rich, creamy, chocolatey and nutty. Yum!
To bed relatively early as tomorrow we embark on the next stage of our adventure, a motorhome journey to Cairns taking in the sights and sounds of the Sunshine Coast and the Great Barrier Reef and many islands and beaches stopping en route more or less as we please over the next 12 days.
