Not having to be somewhere at any particular time today, well it is the weekend, meant we dawdled over breakfast with John and I managing to talk about retirement until nearly coffee time! Lesley had a bit of a lie in and Gennelle, dashed about doing things, she has such boundless energy.
Having managed to get through most of the morning before we left the house, we travelled to Eagle Heights, a bit of a hippy town with lots of art and craft shops including some interesting glass at The Glass Castle and a clock or two that took my fancy, remember no room in case for souvenirs, at Cuckoo Clock Nest. Not that I wanted either a cuckoo or modern grandfather clock, but a Skeleton Clock and one based on that made by John Harrison were both delightful, if a little expensive.
Having managed to avoid purchasing anything we travelled on to North Tamborine and had a tasty lunch at Deli Vino who also offered wine tasting. Lesley and I indulged, each tasting two different wines. I decided to purchase a very fruity and flavoursome single vineyard Shiraz and John, prompted by Lesley's comments on the Verdelho, decided to taste and then bought a couple of bottles.
The next part of the drive was very scenic. We stopped at Rim View with an amazing and beautiful panorama of a huge caldera with forests, lakes and mountains ranged around us. We drove on along the winding Goat Track through forests and pretty valleys back to Halcyon Waters. This is such a beautiful state, so lush and verdant with an abundance of wildlife and throughout our time here we have been very lucky with the weather which has been neither too hot nor cold with only an odd sprinkling of rain and never when we were out and about.
More chatting and chilling and beginning to think about our Campervan trip up the East Coast to Cairns which begins on Monday. Then a delicious dinner of BBQ pork chops with salad and tomatoes dressed with preserved lemons accompanied by a lovely fresh and zingy Yellow Tail Semilion Sauvignon Blanc followed by a delicious orange and Grand Marnier infused ice cream with grilled fresh peaches in sherry, heavenly.
I feel sure we have put on weight whilst being here, having been so well fed and cared for, next week we are going to need to take a lot more exercise!
