Start of a new week

Hard to believe that this time last week Lesley and I were still in Singapore at the end of our 10 week tour. We were packing to return home with outside temperatures of 30C and very high humidity. Here we are in London at the start of a new week with temperatures of just 18C but the sky is blue, the sun is shining and low humidity; it is a beautiful late Spring day.

We had breakfast and being Monday, I went out to my Tai Chi Exercise class. I am definitely out of practice because after just an hour my shoulders and neck were aching but then I have not had any osteopathic treatment for nearly 3 months and not having the foam roller with us whilst away meant I was unable to do the daily stretching routine. Think I may have to make an appointment at the BSO.

Lunch on the patio in the sunshine was very pleasant. We used up some leftover roasted red pepper, pancetta and passata and rejuvenated the remains of a pasta dish and served it with mixed salad leaves. Quick, simple and rather tasty.

Picking up Jo from her home we went to a Skoda garage so she could look at a couple of models she is considering as her car needs to be replaced very soon. Hopefully she will be able to use her motability allowance to acquire a Roomster or Fabia Estate. The extra space and flexibility of the arrangement of rear seats in the Roomster may be useful especially when she is going camping.

We came home via Amanda's new flat in South Norwood to meet with a builder who is going to provide a quote for some works she wants undertaken before she moves in. On returning home we made some tea and out came the Lamingtons again! Not sure how long they will keep but we are storing them in an airtight container in the fridge and when we travelled in the motorhome in Oz the few we were given by Gennelle lasted a while and were not in a fridge so all should be well.

We talked about the cars Jo had seen and whether she might use the Motability contract or hire purchase scheme. More thinking to do here with regard to running costs and whether it is better to own or hire a vehicle that gets renewed every three years.

Lesley was tonight's chef and turned out juicy oven roasted lemon and garlic crumbed cod steaks with fennel, buttered carrots and new potatoes. All very tasty and accompanied by that Muscadet again! Dessert employed some Spanish strawberries that were flavoursome made into a shortcake with Hobnobs and whipped cream; yum!

Lesley went to bed early as she is skating in the morning and after watching some more of Masterchef Professional, I turned in too.
