Leaving London on Sunday, we dropped off our beloved VW Bay Window Camper at our son's with all its documentation ready to be sold on eBay after 27 years of ownership because it is time he went to a new owner who will get as much enjoyment from him as we have.
Then we journeyed on to our friends Ruth and Frank in Moseley near Birmingham and had a great evening chatting over a tasty dinner and catching up on the each other's news. We slept in Cally on their drive and next morning had a super large cooked breakfast and more chatting, finally leaving at midday to travel further North to Sutton in Ashfield where Lesley's niece lives. We pitched at a local campsite and were collected by Joey and taken to their home, a former colliery managers house, met her family and were later joined by her sister Niki, her husband and their children and we had a lovely family evening over a buffet dinner with lots of photo opportunities and lots of catch up chat.
Joey returned us to our campsite where we spent a restful night and awoke next morning to a mixture of clouds and sunshine. We breakfasted al fresco, used the amazing facilities of this Camping & and Caravanning Club Site at Teversal then motored on to Creswell Crags a site visited by humans for 50,000 years and enjoyed the interpretive centre and a walk along the limestone gorge peeking into cave entrances used by animals and man for thousands of years.
We travelled in a northerly direction towards Doncaster and pitched overnight at a Caravan Club CL overlooking rolling hills inhabits by sheep. We feasted on vegetable samosa on a salad bed followed by a home made mutton curry and basmati rice and, having tuned the tv and discovered a myriad of channels, we enjoyed an episode of Endeavour before settling down for the night.
